John Henry Patterson : The driving force behind the Zion Mule Corps and the Jewish Legion

with Geoffrey Clarfield

online via zoom

Hear the story of this charismatic personality

Patterson was an Anglo Irishman who formed, trained, and fought with these two military outfits whose men eventually formed the Palmach and the IDF. He was a soldier, engineer, and tiger hunter in India. He killed the man-eating lions of Tsavo in Kenya and wrote a book about it that made him world famous.

Above all he was a Zionist, a restorationist, a friend of the Jewish people. And he was the Godfather at the Brit Mila of the late Yonatan Netanyahu, of Entebbe Rescue tragic fame.

Geoffrey Clarfield is an anthropologist at large, trained at undergraduate and graduate levels at York, U of T and McGill in Canada. After research in Northern Kenya (where he lived among camel nomads for 18 months) he became a development anthropologist, acting as a cultural broker between local communities and range of international donors and development organizations.

He was based in East Africa for 17 years and has done consulting work in South Africa, Ethiopia, Uganda, the Central African Republic, Zimbabwe, India, Nepal, Guyana, Guatemala, Grenada and Argentina. He also lived and worked in Israel, including one year as a researcher among a Bedouin tribe in the eastern Sinai - today a hotbed of ISIS terror.

As a journalist he has written for the Globe and Mail, The Brooklyn Rail, American Thinker, Quillette Magazine, Tablet Magazine and the New English Review where he is a contributing editor.

For the last five years he has worked on behalf of the Yazidi people of Syria and Iraq as Co-Director of the Yazidi Rescue Committee.

For a living he takes people on Safari to the Serengeti:

He is a citizen of Canada and Israel and currently lives in Misgav with his Israeli born wife.
