Hike Hamahktesh Hakatan

Hike Hamahktesh Hakatan

ESRA Hike at Hamahktesh Hakatan

Wednesday 25 March

We begin our hike at Meitzad Tamar trekking down to Nahal Tzafit, followed by a long ascent to a wonderful panoramic view of  Hamahktesh Hakatan. This unique geological feature is found only in the Negev and Sinai and was created by erosion millions of years ago. Banked by step cliff walls, with a small opening in the eastern end, Hamahktesh Hakatan measures seven kilometers long and four kilometers wide. A long descent then follows to the bottom, enjoying unique colored sandstone formations and the opportunity to witness nature's sensational colored rocks and sands. A kaleidoscope of colors makes this memorable!
