Matthew Gould, British Ambassador to Israel will be speaking at a special fundraiser for ESRA on Tuesday 11 October in Kfar Shmaryahu. Several of our branches are having a summer break but others have some interesting and new activities. ![]() Our Netanya Branch invites us to meet the author Barry Shaw on Thursday 30 June. Barry will talk about critical issues affecting Israel’s position in the world and how to counteract disinformation propaganda! On the same day ESRA Rehovot is holding its Annual General Meeting with a lecture on Al Jolson by ESRA Herzliya's own music maven Barbara Blum. North Coast, the newest ESRA branch (from the Krayot to Rosh HaNikra) is holding its launch event on Tuesday 5 July. Pass the message on to all your acquaintances who live in that area. Encouraged by the success of the ESRA Caesarea/Zichron brunches in popular local restaurants and cafes, the ladies of Kfar Saba and Hod Hasharon are starting a new Luncheon Club on Sunday 10th July. ONE ORGANISATION SO MANY GOOD CAUSES. One donation to ESRA is a donation to a whole range of worthy causes. With one donation you can help ESRA continue its work in so many spheres. Not only will they find a new home, but they provide an extra source of income to ensure the viabilty of ESRA's projects. Click here to see suggested items. Thank you.We are also forming a Media Committee to cover all aspects of ESRA's interaction with the media and the public at large. On 9th June, two busloads of ESRA enthusiasts will be off to see AIDA at Masada in one of the most exciting music events of the year. Within 48 hours of the announcement in our April Newsletter, the event was completely sold out. If you were disappointed, just look out for next year's announcement. Our recent trips to the Bird Observatory and Botanical Gardens in Jerusalem, to Swan Lake in Caesarea and the visit to Beit Hatefutsot were also fully booked so our activities committee will be planning more trips like this for next season. Book now for our trip in July to the Knesset and the Supreme Court!![]() Finally we welcome Caryn Ginsberg as magazine administrator whilst Naomi Gal is on maternity leave. ESRA January Newsletter
We are proud to announce that within two weeks of the Carmel Fire disaster, enough funds were raised by ESRA members to assist 30 families who have been affected by the fire. The monies are being distributed directly to the families with help from the Social Services Department of Hof Hacarmel.We are continuing our efforts to help these families and continue our request to donate to our special Carmel Fire Emergency Fund We thank you warmly on behalf of the families of Carmel. ![]() ESRA has always encouraged English speakers in Israel to volunteer in the community around them - in this way both sides gain. ESRA has organised 2 opportunites to help discover how to use your talents and life experiences to volunteer. Two Interactive Workshops will be held in January and an Insight morning in February. A new Social Group is being formed especially for Young Adults with Special Needs. If you know someone who could benefit from such a group please check the link. As a spin off from the marvellous Ahinoam Nini concert, ESRA is proud to be a part of three new projects opening in January 2011: a project of Ethnic Ethiopian Dance at the Matnas in Neot Shaked; a second computer room in Hefzibah, Netanya; a Bayit Cham (afternoon clubhouse) for teenage girls at risk in Herzliya..... and that's just to start the New Year........As ever, your donations in support of our projects are always welcome. We welcome Yonit Gurfinkel who has taken up the position of ESRA's Director. ESRA Newsletter for October We are only weeks away from the highlight of ESRA’s year, the Achinoam Nini concert at the Tel Aviv Opera House on Sunday 17th October.
