More Student Scholarships allocated this week

This week members of the Welfare Committee, together with a wonderful donor, interviewed 5 more needy students for scholarships to help them continue with their studies. Three of the students who arrived from the FSU  with the Na’aleh program (bringing teenagers to Israel without their families)  impressed us with their positive attitude.

Despite their struggle to keep themselves going financially they loved being in Israel and were really proud that they had served in the IDF.  Life for these 3 students, in their final year of studies, is exceptionally difficult.  They have to pay for university fees, lodgings, food, books, bus fares, etc.  Finding work to fit in with their long hours of study is difficult and when they do they generally earn no more than NIS 1000-1500 a month; even harder for those attending Sapir College as there are few part time jobs available in Sderot.  Each of the 3 students were given a grant of NIS 5,000.

An Ethiopian girl (one of 11 siblings) studying at Ariel College, amazing, positive, bright, and articulate, and struggling to manage on a weekly basis, tries to do anything that will give her a small income. She was also awarded NIS 5,000

The last student came as a child from the FSU so was mainly educated in Israel.  His parents, who are are sick and can barely manage to live, desperately want to help their son but just don’t have the means.  The donor gave this student NIS 3,000 NIS to help.

If you would like to donate money on-line to help more students in this way please follow this link to our donations page. Thank you.
