NOTES:
1. Was a notary public in Kiev, Russia, but was
originally from Lithuania. He was called to a sick
man's house to notarize a will, caught the disease
the man had, and died four months before the birth
of his only son, David.
2. Owned much of Colonial Beach, Virginia, a resort
town. Also owned the Crown Castle Hotel, two
restaurants, a dance pier, and other businesses.
3. Worked for a patent attorney in Washington, D.C.,
named Brown. Was also Irving Berlin's private
secretary, and that of John Hammond, an inventor,
who left her his house in New York.
4. Was "a heroic nurse in Burma"
5. Immigrated from Kiev to Baltimore in 1903. Opened a
grocery store in Washington, D.C., in 1916. In 1923,
he moved his family to Toronto, Canada. Went to work
for Virtue Limited on Church Street. Lived at 83 St.
Clarens for 3 months, later lived at 241 Markham. In
1925, he rented a grocery store from a Mr. Ginsberg
at 788 Dundas.
6. Immigrated from Kiev to Baltimore before 1903.
7. Lived and died in Kiev
8. Emigrated from Galicia to the U.S. at age 13.
9. Wholesale auctioneer in Baltimore, MD
10. Owner of a real estate in Baltimore
11. Head of all public schools in Maryland
12. Attended public school in Dupont Circle, Washington,
D.C. Later attended King Edward Public School on
Lipincott Street, in Toronto. Owns the Old Vic
Theatre in London, together with his son. Owns a
huge department at Bloor and Bathurst Streets,
Toronto. Opened a huge restaurant called Ed's
Warehouse. Alongside was Ed's Steak House. Built
the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, together
with son David.
13. Owns David Mirvish Book Store, near his father's
department store.
