We hope you had a wonderful Pesach holiday and wish you a very happy Independence Day which this year falls on Tuesday 10th May.

ESRA's new Director, Yonit Gurfinkel, took up her position at the beginning of the year and has been immersing herself in all aspects of ESRA's activities. Many of you will have had the chance to meet Yonit, so for you, and for those who have not yet had the chance, we invite you to read Yonit's words of introduction, recently posted onto the website: Message from ESRA's Director, Yonit Gurfinkel

ESRA's Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 19th May at 10am at Beit Fisher, 5 Klausner St., Raanana. This year it will take a new format as we combine the AGM with the regular Branch Forum which convenes representatives from all  ESRA Branches. You are all cordially invited to come along and hear the amazing progress that ESRA has made in all its activities. Paid up members of ESRA will be eligible to take part in the voting procedures for the Executive. Click here for more details

or_yarok.jpg"Or Yarok" is a non-profit organisation to increase awareness of safety on the roads. In a joint venture with the Ministry of Education in Ra'anana, they are looking for volunteers to spend 3 hours once a week with a kindergarten class (5 year olds) near to you, to teach them road awareness.
There will be an initial meeting in June to explain the project.  Training will be given during the program and English speakers will be helped with Hebrew terminology and may be assigned a group of English speaking children.
If you would like to become a "safta/saba" in a local kindergarten to assist in this very worthwhile project, please call Val 054-469 6512.

packing_mag.jpgAs you may know, the ESRA Magazine is distributed, wherever possible, by our team of over 200 volunteer postmen in order to save on the cost of postage. We are always in need of new volunteer distributors, so if you would be willing to help deliver Magazines in your area every 2 months or so, or even to offer to help occasionally, then we would love to hear from you. Please call or email Ingrid in our Gan Rashal office  09-950 8371.

books.jpgThe ESRA Or Akiva Bookshop shelves are full to bursting, so our Caesarea/Zichron Ya'akov branch is selling the next five hundred books for only FIVE shekels each.  Sales are off to a brisk start, so click here for further information:

adamtevavadin.jpg The Israel Union for Environmental Defense (IUED-Adam Teva V’din) has published a downloadable guide in English that outlines the new sorting and recycling regulations for household refuse that most Israeli municipalities will be adopting starting this summer as part of the newly passed Packaging Reduction Law.  Most municipalities in Israel already require residents to sort out paper and plastic, but as part of the new regulations additional materials will be included like metals and glass. This free guide is available from Adam Teva V’Din who sponsored the bill. The link to the guide can be found on their website:

And lastly, for all those who would like to learn the basics of how to use Facebook, we will be organising An Introduction to Facebook on Wednesday 22nd June at Yad Lebanim in Raanana. Watch this space for more details of how to sign up.

Meanwhile those of you who are already on Facebook are invited to go into our ESRA page and click on 'Like'. You will be able to show your support of ESRA and also be kept informed of what's happening in the organisation

Thank you.
