ESRAvision Overview 2010

Last year was a busy and productive time for ESRAvision.
Over a 12 month period our group made 26 new films (mini-documentaries). These were all shown on the half hour ESRAvision magazine program, aired throughout Israel on the Community TV Channel (98) and throughout the Middle East on METV. The Ministry of Communications in Israel has continued to give ESRAvision its vote of confidence through significant financial support.
Over the course of the year, our professional consultant, Ori ben Dov, ran two workshops covering topics such as pitching a story, scriptwriting and editing. These workshops were enthusiastically received by both new and long-standing members. They have helped us to continue learning and improving, raising the bar of our professionalism.
For the first time last year, two students from a film school did their internships with us. This was a helpful and interesting experience for both the students and for us, and resulted in the production of a mini-documentary on the Arthur Murray Dance School which was aired in July (Click here to watch it on YouTube). We are hoping to collaborate with a film school again this year.
As Executive Producer of ESRAvision, I was asked to give a talk about community television at Netanya College last fall. As a result, we were able to show a film made by two of their final year students. We are always willing to include short documentary films from different sources.
The new season is beginning and we have exciting plans for further workshops and training for ESRAvision members. We are happy to welcome and encourage new members in the group. It is a stimulating and rewarding creative endeavor to have an idea, to learn how to present it and then to give it life in the form of a finished film. Many of our most active members joined ESRAvision with no previous experience, and have become proficient and innovative movie-makers.
We invite you to join us – maybe movie-making is for you!
