Project of the Month

These programs allow talented underprivileged teenagers to fulfill their potential by providing them with a challenging program of enrichment and leadership training at the Ruppin Institute of Marine Science. Talented 7th graders from all backgrounds of Israeli society in the lower socio-economic levels are chosen - programs run for 2 years.

    ESRA Modi’in was honored to host Ishmael Khaldi, Israel’s first Bedouin diplomat, who captivated over ‎‎60 guests with stories of his youth and years abroad representing the State of Israel.

    What wonderful vibes I received on my first visit to the Kfar Shmaryahu Social Club and what a welcome they provided even though I had arrived unannounced to join in one of their regular Monday evening get-togethers.

    When they started around 15 years ago, the group members were in their teens - now they have become a close-knit unit of young adults who simply enjoy each other's company.

    Last week, 75 people met in ‎Joseph's lovely home and gave a rousing welcome to our guest ‎speaker, Ishmael Khaldi, Israel’s first Bedouin diplomat.‎

    ESRA Modi'in was well represented at the 2016 Modi'in Volunteers Fair Notnim Be'Ahava (Giving with Love). This annual event, organised by  Modi'in Municipality and Azrieli Mall, includes over 50 different local volunteer organisations.

    ESRA Haifa branch hosted Dr. Einat Rotem at its monthly meeting this February. Einat is a very popular figure in the Haifa area - not only a successful architect and urban planner but also a City Councillor.

    ESRA's ETP (English Tutoring Program) is one of the most important and far reaching of the projects in ESRA. Israeli kids are hungry to learn the English language but with 30-40 children in a class, it is almost impossible for any teacher to give a student the one-on-one help that is so badly needed. This is where ESRA comes in.

    ESRA recently held its annual Scholarship Award evening for students involved in its Students Build a Community project. Carefully chosen students are given the opportunity of mentoring children from deprived backgrounds in exchange for living rent-free in the areas (and apartment blocks) where these youngsters reside.

    ESRA’s annual major fundraiser took place on January 3rd to a packed hall at the Performing Arts Centre in Herzliya. It was an evening ‎of outstanding entertainment which also raised money to support our projects  creating a better ‎tomorrow for those youngsters who need our help.‎
