Project of the Month

These programs allow talented underprivileged teenagers to fulfill their potential by providing them with a challenging program of enrichment and leadership training at the Ruppin Institute of Marine Science. Talented 7th graders from all backgrounds of Israeli society in the lower socio-economic levels are chosen - programs run for 2 years.

    "As long as there is one hungry child in Israel – I will perform" These were the words of the eminent Conductor, Composer and Pianist Gil Shohat as he once again introduced a musical evening of pure delight in aid of ESRA's "Hand in Hand Pantry" Campaign. 

    The proceeds of this concert ensures that hungry families will have sufficient food for this coming Pesach.

    An article written by Brenda Katten, ESRA's PR coordinator, and published in The Jerusalem Post, focusing on the Kfar Shmaryahu Club for Special Needs Young People, an ESRA project where Leslie Henan is an ESRA volunteer of many years standing.

    The Petach Tikva Arts & Crafts group evolved in August 2015 under the guidance of Edna Chayen and has had monthly meetings since ‎then with either talks or workshops. The group also creates original and attractive articles for exhibition and sale at Charity Fairs.

    Well done to ESRA Team Netanya who won for the second time running with 173 pts!! Runners Up Team Patri Patriota at Sandra & Bernard's in Raanana with 157pts., and the Masterminds of Modiin with 155pts.

    A big thanks to all the organisers, questionmasters and hosts who made it such a success with 18 teams taking part. All profits this year go to the Social Club for Special Needs Young Adults in Kfar Shmaryahu.

    Yesterday we had a special guest at the Social Club for Disabled Young Adults in Kfar Shmaryahu. Amidst much anticipation and excitement, Achinoam Nini arrived to participate in the evening’s activities.

    Members were invited to ask questions which Achinoam graciously answered, explaining and telling special stories.

    Thanks to the generous donation of Natalie and Eddie Shapiro, our new skateboard group, in the name of the Mayer Shapiro Skateboard Fund, opened in Neot Shaked, Netanya on Monday night.  And wasn't it exciting?  The kids sat open-mouthed and wide-eyed during the introductory evening, with their parents equally impressed!

    The SIGD Festival, one of the happiest festivals of the Ethiopian Community, took place in Hefzibah and Neot Shaked this year on the 29th November.

    Sigd falls on the 29th of Cheshvan, which is 50 days after Yom Kippur, [their interpretation the biblical commandment  "And you shall count from the day after the Shabbat… seven full weeks"].
