Ishmael Khaldi, Israel's first Bedouin Diplomat

Mr. Khaldi will talk about his book, A Shepherd's Journey: the Story of Israel's First Bedouin Diplomat ‎and tell us about the diplomatic efforts to combat the disinformation of the BDS movement in Britain

Ishmael Khaldi was born and raised in the Bedouin village of Khawalid in the Western Galilee. He earned ‎a B.A. in Political Science from Haifa University, and a Masters in International Relations from Tel Aviv ‎University. He served in the IDF, Defense Ministry, and the Israeli Police, before being chosen to join the ‎Foreign Ministry in 2004, becoming Israel's first Bedouin Diplomat.‎

Ishmael initially served in the Arabic Media Dept as Spokesperson to the Arabic media during the ‎Disengagement from Gaza and then transferred to the US Division until being selected for Deputy ‎Consul General in San Francisco. He Rrecently served for 4 years as Counsellor for Civil ‎Society Affairs at the Israeli Embassy in London - his main role was "combating" BDS and anti-Israel ‎activity in Britain.
