ESRA IN TEL AVIV
"The National Gallery, London: how the collection became the “facebook” of the Empire"
An Introductory lecture to an Armchair Tour of European Museums - a course of 4 lectures
with Kinneret Zohar-Lahav, art historian
10:00 refreshments, 10:30 lecture
Kinneret Zohar-Lahav was born in Bombay to Israeli diplomat parents. Growing up in foreign lands gave her a unique view in understanding the history of art, its present and future as the artists saw it and the context in which a piece was created.
Looking at a picture, she enters an adventure. An artwork is a window into another dimension of time and place. This will be the manner and method of her art appreciation course and her invitation to explore the finest collections of art in Europe.
There will be a subsequent seminar of four fortnightly lectures on Sundays
28 May Rembrandt House & Museum, Amsterdam
11 June Edward Munch Museum, Oslo, Norway
25 June Toulouse Lautrec Museum Albi, France
9 July The Prado Museum, Madrid, Spain
