The Genesis And Conception of

My Fair Lady

‎“My Fair Lady” premiered on Broadway in 1956. The show was a notable ‎critical and popular success.  At the time, it set a record for the  longest ‎run of any show on Broadway.  It was followed by a hit London production, ‎a popular film version, and numerous revivals.  “My Fair Lady”  has ‎frequently been called "the perfect musical."  The show rocked the world ‎in its near-perfect blending of song and script. No musical so far has ‎matched its brilliance and magic. ‎

Edmund Jonah was born in Calcutta, India to Iraqi Jewish parents,  and ‎was educated by Belgian and Canadian Jesuits in Darjeeling.  He spent 10 ‎years in London, got married and made aliya over 40 years ago.  He has ‎three children and three grandchildren.‎

Edmund has had short stories and poems published in several magazines, ‎and has written a book about Jesus from the Jewish viewpoint.  He helped ‎start the Shakespeare Reading Circle in Tel Aviv. and was a founding ‎member of English Theater in Israel.‎
