ESRA Director Job Description

• Experience in office administration and ability to represent the organization.
• Excellent computer skills
• Grant writing, public relations, bookkeeping and budget preparation.
• Hebrew and English at mother tongue level
• Initiative, mentoring and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
• Hours: 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

ESRA is a volunteer organization and the Director is well supported by dedicated volunteers. Personal skills for interaction with volunteers is essential. There are volunteers/committees focusing on specific fields, such as projects, membership, fund raising, volunteering, marketing and PR, finance, staff management, branches, activities, etc.

The volunteers provide considerable back up and support. The Director must maintain contact with the two chairpersons and two vice chairs of the organization as well as with the individual committees. The role of the Director must be to identify weak areas and to be on top of and push forward ESRA’s key areas of interest.

The Director will ensure that all inquiries are responded to with appropriate speed, will attend committee meetings and ESRA functions when required which includes occasional evenings. The Director has his/her own assistant to provide back-up, carry out administrative tasks, research, put out tenders, assist in grant applications.

FUND RAISING
There is a dynamic fund-raising committee, organizing events and fund raising activities. This committee plans the annual raffle, creates fund raising events, and manages the annual fund raising drive. The committee provides ideas, direction and the contacts. The Director will supervise follow up contacts for donations, advertising and sponsorship, supported by volunteers experienced in the field.

The Director will oversee and be involved in all fund raising events. The Director will be responsible for researching and making grant applications and for creating e-fundraising campaigns.

WEBSITE
There is a web editor and volunteers who update the website. The Director will be completely familiar with the website and be aware of all new developments at ESRA to add to the website. The Director will be up to date with Google Analytics and will ensure the database is regularly updated by volunteers and staff.

COMPUTER SKILLS
The Director has to have an excellent knowledge of computers including Access

BI-LINGUAL
The Director has to be able to communicate and correspond fluently in English and Hebrew at mother tongue level.

MARKETING AND PR
The Director is responsible for raising awareness of ESRA to the outside world: to create speech-making and presentation opportunities various events. The Director must be aware of opportunities for publicity, including talking to and dealing with the media; to be active in marketing strategy for the organization; producing supporting materials in print and email form.

STAFF AND OFFICE MANAGEMENT
Management of six office staff; ability to encourage staff members; assess productivity of each member of staff; supervise equipment and computer maintenance; chair regular staff meetings.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The Director will be familiar with all the ESRA projects and be able to assist with any problems that need solving at Director’s level. There is a paid part time project coordinator. The Director will also be involved in the final choice of new projects and contacts with the government and municipal authorities when necessary. There is a Projects Committee consisting of a volunteer coordinator for each of ESRA’s 32 projects. The Director will be responsible for annual budgets for the projects and oversee the outgoing expenses.

BUDGET AND ACCOUNTS
The Director, together with our accountants, will produce an annual budget and monthly project accounts. The Director will sign off project and non routine invoices; will be responsible for the output of the book-keeper ensuring that payments are made on time and accounts are up to date.
