Caesarea - Zichron Ya'akov
THE CAESAREA BRANCH opened in 2004 and now includes Zichron Ya'akov and all surrounding areas including Binyamina, Hadera, Pardes Hana, Karkur and English speakers in the surrounding moshavim and kibbutzim.
Our main activity is our ESRA second hand English bookshop which opened in February 2008. It is based at the social centre of Meir Panim, in Or Akiva (behind the Orot shopping mall). Open Sundays through Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon. Call Marion 04-639 8056 or Judy 050-8235 216 for further information.
Our regular Brunch Club has become very popular. A purely social event, we meet at the charming and beautifully situated cafes and restaurants in the area of which, it is commonly agreed, there is no shortage.
There is a Knitting Club, which meets bi-weekly in different homes, call Judy Rosenblatt for more information: 050 823 5216.
Rosalind Jacobs is Head of English at the all-girls religious school Ulpanit in Or Akiva, where a number of ESRA members volunteer as part of the nationwide ESRA English for Schools program. She is always on the look-out for more volunteers, whose task it is to help students attain the best possible marks in English oral bagrut. An hour or two of your time each week, no special training required, contact Roz at gunner@netvision.net.il
Branch members can also volunteer at the magnificent gardens at Ramat Hanadiv, in an imaginative and rewarding scheme where the volunteers are looked after very well, with many perks, in an English speaking group. Contact Naomi at naomi@ramathanadiv.org.il
Caesarea and Zichron Ya'akov, are tourist hot-spots, with a wide choice of places to visit and things to do. We have wine-tasted (Carmel, Tishbi and Binyamina), we have held an Arts & Craft Fair in a private home and put on a Palm Court tea at the Dan Caesarea Hotel and Jazz with Dinner in a beautiful Caesarea private garden. Museums we have visited include Dor Nachsholim, The Khan and The Feinberg House in Hadera and the Ralli Art Collection in Caesarea. We also hold an annual Chanukah Party with live music and an annual Summer Buffet.
Branch Chair Jane Krivine 077-550 3348 or 054-740.5047
