
AFTER
SCHOOL CENTER FOR MILDLY RETARDED CHILDREN

Rationale:
To offer an afterschool activity center for 40 mildly retarded children
at the Szold Elementary School, a regional
school in Kfar Saba for children with special
needs.
This project enables these mildly retarded children to enjoy enrichment
activities, and prevents the social isolation which often occurs
in the after school hours.
The Center opened in March 1998. |
| The
Program:
Four days a week from 13:30 -16:30.
Each child receives a hot lunch, time for play; and enrichment activities
such as arts, crafts, music, judo, yoga and drama, the children
also learn skills with animals, such as horseback riding and obedience
classes with dogs.
Professional Staff:
Director, 1 assistant,
3 helpers, activity teachers, security guard and volunteers.
